It advocates zero-tolerance towards firearms in learning institutions by enforcing firm, strict and fair discipline policies which meeting of students, teachers, and parents agree upon on the firs t day of the school year. Democrats also believe in "second-chance schools" where students expelled from schools can get back on the path. Over the last four years, Democrats have increased after-school assistance five hundred times because they understand that character education is crucial in the schools (McLaren, 2015). Learning institutions have to ensure that they teach the children responsibility, reliability, and respect. One of the ways of enforcing this is by hiring new teachers and paying them like professionals, reducing class size and modernizing facilities.The platform makes sure that learning is the top domestic priority. Ninety percent of all children in the country must attend a public school because America cannot remain the first in the world economically if it does not become the first in the country. No high school student should graduate until they have mastered the basics. Parents all over the nation have to choose the best public schools for their children. Mo reover, every eighth grader in the United States should be computer literate. Every kid should learn in a modern and safe classroom with conventional technology (McLaren, 2015). It will eliminate the achievement gap between the African American and the rest of the students.The Democrats propose a Student Borrower Bill of Rights and also pledge to let borrowers with student loans to discharge their debts when declared bankrupt. These are admirable and reasonable proposals nut they fall short of the student debt "jubilee" which would reflect both the economic principles and values which have sustained the nation through the greatest periods of prosperity and growth. The platform's promise to support the minority-serving universities and colleges, for example, the Historically Black Universities is worthy. It also intends to crack down on greedy, profit-making colleges.The platform also aims at enacting new tax programs that enable more life-long learning. Gore proposes a National Tuit ion Savings initiative to bring together state savings programs in more than thirty states to make it easier for parents to save for college tax-free. It calls for a tax cut that allows families and guardians to choose either a two thousand eight dollar tax credit or a ten thousand dollar a year tax deduction. The next great frontier in the United States education us increasing life-long learning (Fulcher, 2015). It addresses the importance of creating a tax credit for employers and provide training allowances which will extend unemployment insurance for the people who need to complete their training courses. Lastly, the platform campaigns for a permanent tax exemption to entice employers to provide tuition assistance benefits.The Democratic Partys social workers continue to seek social change, especially on behalf and with the oppressed and vulnerable groups of people and individuals.
